This school year, Pitman’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America will be progressively more active and involved then ever before. The officers have set a list of goals for the club to accomplish, and have engrossed themselves into organizing and formulating an outline in which to abide. On September 23, over eighty students came and participated in the first official meeting this year. Applications for membership and the Leadership Development Institute were passed out quickly, and both the officers and the adviser dialogued about the expected events to come.
On October 15th, FBLA members who signed up and paid to go on the Leadership Development Institute trip will be going to Santa Clara for the weekend, which is the first FBLA conference of the year. There will be a wide variety of workshops to attend which will cover everything from professional photography to formal interviews.
Within the next couple months, the club will be selecting events for each member to compete in for the Central Section competition. Following that, for students who place, the State competition will be this coming April. We will need to decide which events everybody would like to compete in and start practicing early.
So there is a lot to prepare for this coming year, in addition to community service and club projects, and the more active each member is within the club, the easier it will be to accomplish each task.
FBLA is a nationally recognized club, which makes for a great addition to any college application.
