Who would have guessed that a video game could go so far so fast? A game released in December of 2009 has come a long way in its two years of existence. “Angry Birds” was created by a senior designer named Jaakko Lisalo. With the help of his fellow work members on the Rovio staff, Angry Birds became addition to their company. After its release, Apple App Store became the first purchaser of Angry Birds. Over 12 million copies have been purchased by just the Apple App Store.
The game of Angry Birds can be played on almost any touch screen mobile device. In the game, players use a slingshot to shoot birds at pigs in various structures. The goal is to destroy all of the pigs on the playing area using less or the amount of birds given. The more of the structure you destroy the more points you receive. As you move on new birds are unlocked. Some have special abilities that can be accessed at your demand. The more levels you pass the more worlds you unlock.
Throughout the years “Angry Birds” has increased from a single episode to several episodes containing three themed chapters each with twenty-one levels. Initially the game was made for Apple iPhones and Apple iPods but has grown to other mobile devices. Different versions have been created to fit each device. A new version called “Angry Birds Rio” game hit an all time high money maker in the Rovio Company. Angry Birds Rio received ten million downloads in just ten days. In March of 2011 Rovio announced a new investment of 42 million dollars into the expansion of Angry Birds. Angry Birds is currently played by 40 million active user’s nation wide.
