“You have the right to remain silent…” yeah that’s right, 21 Jump Street is back! The hit TV show in the 80’s is now in the making of a new movie. Due to my obsession with Johnny Depp, I have watched every single movie and thanks to Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) I found out that Johnny Depp starred in the 80’s show 21 Jump Street, and I could not believe that I was missing out. Another thanks is to Hulu Plus because I’m currently on the third season and it is certainly addicting! Teenagers don’t know much about the show because it aired in the 80’s, but it’s neat to see how the style of dress and talk of a few years ago compares to now. Heartthrob, Johnny Depp played a cop who dressed up as a high school student who protected youngsters from different types of dangers along with his good-looking companions and an incredible chief officer, Captain Fuller.
21 Jump Street basically discovered Johnny Depp! He was the main protagonist and from there his career managed to skyrocket. Depp is said to play a short part in the film otherwise known as a cameo. In my opinion, I think Depp should have been the Chief Officer or play a main role in the new movie; after all he played a huge role in the series. Another suggestion is to have some sort of reunion of the cast members like Holly Robinson Peete, Dustin Nguyen, Steven Williams, and the unforgettable funny guy, Peter DeLuise. Nothing is said or rumored about all of them starring on the movie, but it would be neat to get them back together on set.
Some of the actors in the movie include fresh faces such as Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, and Dave Franco. Tatum and Hill are playing undercover cops protecting high school students from dangers of drugs. It is not said on the Internet exactly, but I have a feeling that Jenko (Channing Tatum) will be connected to the old Officer Jenko (Frederic Forrest in the 80’s). Or is it a coincidence? However, something that is not a coincidence is that Jonah Hill is not only an actor for this film, but is actually also the executive producer! Hill has been working on this piece since 2008 and is finally hitting the big screen on March 16, 2012.
I say that there is nothing like the original! However, it is new and improved and at least give it a chance! I might just end up liking it just like the series.
