Mmm..Bacon. Imagine waking up in the morning and smelling bacon from your bed. Well now there’s a new Oscar Mayer IOS device for those bacon lovers to wake up with the fresh scent of bacon.
It appears just two weeks ago, Oscar Mayer created the new first- ever bacon scented app for iphones, but the app is guaranteed until April 9th. It will not be sold in stores and the app is limited time and limited amount of devices starting at 4, 700 devices, just fill out a form on the Oscar Mayer website at www.wakeupandsmellthebacon.com/. Any iPhone owner who loves bacon and would rather have a wake up to the smell of bacon than an old boring alarm try applying to get a chance to win a device.
“I can’t believe there is a bacon app for iPhone. They need to bring it to android,” stated David Pace.
There are two parts of the Oscar Mayer alarm clock. The first is the app it’s a small add onto the phone; anyone can download it for free at the Apple iTunes store. The second part is a small “dongle” that plugs into the headphone jack of the iPhone allowing any user with this app to wake up to the smell of bacon. Addition to that it comes with a bottle of liquid for a refill of a scented vaporizer.
The scented comes in a black mini package that includes a USB power cable for recharging the battery and the bottle of liquid; the scented vaporizer has a smoky smell to it. A small tray on the side holds the liquid.
The app features a skillet pan and a sound of sizzling bacon, but no real bacon. The app is free to download; there’s a chance anyone can win the contest. Winners will receive their bacon scented devices within six to eight weeks.
The device is being promoted with a video from Oscar Mayer Institute for the advancement of bacon led by Phil Roudenboush. The institute also used previous marketing campaigns.
To set the alarm clock the user has to rotate the skillet to select the wake –up time. Then the app connects to the scent device turning the alarm clock on with the scent of bacon.
“With nearly two million mentions of #bacon on Instagram, it seems like no one is getting tired of the smell of bacon,” said Tom Bick, senior director of integrated marketing. That’s why Oscar Mayer and his team chose to develop a new device for those bacon lovers.
Those who are not a lucky winner can still download the app with the sizzling sound of bacon and sayings like”Baconisms” or “A world without bacon is like Earth without bacon.” With the new invention of Oscar Mayer’s idea he hopes people will get up and cook up a few slices of bacon in the morning.
