Everyone has a day where going out to eat is a must. But, is this as smart as you think it is? Here are a couple of things those restaurants do not want you to know. [KEEP IN MIND, NOT EVERY RESTAURANT DOES THIS; HOWEVER, THESE ARE TRUE STORIES FROM BEHIND THE SCENES.]
1. Revenge
Everyone knows not to be rude to waiters because they are handling your food. Even though it is unknown if waiters actually tamper with your food, tampering with your credit card is something that has been done. The waiter might approach your table, after you have been rude to them all night, and attempt to embarrass you by asking, “Do you have another card? This one did not go through.” So, next time, make sure you are nice to your waiter to save an embarrassment.
2. Blast the Music
Ever been to a restaurant and not been able to have a conversation with your date without shouting? You might not think anything big of it, but this is a technique most restaurants use. Studies show that one eats faster if the music is loud. Eating faster means leaving faster which means having more costumers. The more costumers a restaurant have, the bigger the profit. So next time you catch your self eating fast, slow down, and enjoy your meal.
3. Don’t show me the money
Have you ever noticed that most prices on the menu do not have a dollar sign? Most high-end restaurants do this because the dollar sign usually screams, “HELLO! You are about to spend this much money on your food!” Ever notice that the price for that item is usually do not line up in a column either? If the prices are lined up in a column then the buyer will shop by the price and only look at lower prices items. So next time you go to a restaurant, make sure you look at the prices and do not be fooled by the lack of a dollar sign.
4. Brain-twist
Usually when a customer is unfamiliar with his or her menu, he asks the server for their opinion. Do not do this! I repeat, DO NOT DO THIS! Servers are trained to say everything is AWESOME! In fact, servers point more towards the higher price items, so the overall bill will be high, thus, the tip will be relatively high as well. Get it now? The server is not on your side, they are against you. So next time you want to know an opinion on a specific food item, look up reviews!
5. Not so special
When the waiter offers you their special, it’s not because they are trying to be nice. The special is actually items that are about to go bad, so the chef creates a meal out of it and call it a special. Specials are not so special after all. So next time your server offers you a special item, politely deny it, unless you want food that is about to go bad.
So next time you go to a restaurants, keep in mind your server can be your worst enemy and probably every little detail in the restaurant is a trick to force the costumers to eat more and pay even more.
