“On our Officer retreat we decided that we wanted to do something different with our chapter this year and we’ve been wanting to throw a dance of some sort for a long time and we’ve never gone through with it so we decided to do a Harvest Bowl dance. It’s the day after harvest bowl and we wanted to celebrate either our win or loss”

Pitman junior Clarissa Bourchier, FFA officer, is a part of Pitman High School’s first Harvest Bowl dance.

The Harvest Bowl dance will be on Saturday November 7th, the day after the Harvest Bowl. It will be held in the Cafeteria from 8 to 11 pm. Tickets are sold in the activities office for $15 for students, $12 for sports or club members, and $10 for FFA members. FFA needs to sell over 200 tickets in order to have enough money for the dance. If the quota is not met, the dance will be cancelled.

Unlike winter formal or prom there isn’t a requirement to wear formal clothing, instead FFA posted on their flyers that students should wear whatever they want, as long as long as it follows the normal dress code.

In spirit of the Pitman Harvest Bowl, the dance will be harvest themed. Clarissa explained that there will be tractors, hail bails, cornstalks, and pumpkins used to transform the cafeteria. The cafeteria will also be sectioned off so that there will be an area for pictures, refreshments, and of course a dance floor to get down and funky. Clarissa mentioned that they will play a variety of music such as pop, hip hop, country and rap.

There is always a chance, though very slim, that Pitman will not win the Harvest Bowl this year however, Clarissa assured that it would not affect the dance.

“I don’t think it will affect the dance because we are there to have a fun time no matter what. We are there for our team and it shouldn’t matter if we win or lose. We’re like a family.”

FFA hopes the tickets will sell and the Harvest Bowl dance will be a success. If all goes well this year they plan on hosting another dance next year.

The Harvest Bowl dance will be fun and memorable so make sure to buy your tickets as soon as possible!

“Who doesn’t like dances? Being that we don’t have many here at Pitman I think it will be a fun experience!” boasts Carissa.
