Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was directed by the ever-amazing Tim Burton. The movie is based on a bestselling young adult book series written by Ransom Riggs, that was released in 2011. The movie was released last month on the 30th. It was rated as PG-13.

The novel is known for being very confusing some would say. Viewers always questioning what happens during the book/movie. Based on the novel of the same name, the film tells the story of Jacob “Jake” Portman (Asa Butterfield), a 16-year-old boy who travels to a mysterious place.

When Jake’s beloved grandfather leaves him clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical, yet very mysterious place known as Miss Peregrine’s School for Peculiar Children. While on the island, fairy tales from his childhood begin to happen in true reality, but in a different time period. The mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers, and terrifying enemies.

Soon, he then realizes that he is the answer to what they’ve been looking for. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special peculiarity can save his new friends.

The film has already received positive reviews. Also, receiving a rate of the film, seven stars out of ten. Manohla Dargis from The NY Times found the movie interesting and exciting.

“Mr. Burton’s attention to detail and to ebb and flow of tone (scary, funny, eerie) make each new turn another occasion for unfettered imagination”

Peter Debruge on his great behalf had agreed that this has yet become a great comeback film for the studios and for Tim Burton himself.

“Not since Sweeney Todd,” and before that all the way back to “Sleepy Hollow,” have the studios found such a perfect match of material for Hollywood’s most iconic auteur.”

Also, A.A. Dowd from A.V. Club had also said this and agreed that it was a variety of great blockbuster hits in one.

“Burton’s latest baroque blockbuster is a greatest-hit hodge-podge, mashing together films like Groundhog Day, Harry Potter, Back to the Future, and the director’s own Big Fish and Beetle Juice.”

With such positive reviews for the “peculiar” movie, it has proven to be yet another unmissable Tim Burton masterpiece. Don’t miss out on the film it is indeed family friendly with a very peculiar twist, as it is currently available now, in theaters.
