Live and Let Die is the third and final studio album by duo Kool G Rap and DJ Polo. The album was released on Cold Chillin Records on November 24th 1992.

The album focuses mainly on crime and mafioso culture at a time when it was most popular in the rap scene. G Rap and Polo released 2 singles before the album’s released titled “Ill Street Blues” and “On the Run”.

The song “Ill Street Blues” pictures G Rap as a career criminal and mafia henchman sent on job by the mob to retrieve money from a cocaine addicted bartender named Jimmy, who is in debt. They have been instructed to kill him after receiving the money. The boss then later orders G Rap to be killed. G Rap soon learns this and kills the mob boss by throwing him out the window of a skyscraper.

“On the Run” is the first single of the album the song is a story about G Rap again being a henchman working for the Luciano family. He steals 10 kg of cocaine and attempts to flee with his wife and child. He is caught by a worker of the family, but the worker is shot after a gunfight with G Rap. He then flies to Mexico, where again he is caught by a worker. He kills the worker and flees to start a life of his own.

Despite the controversy caused by the release of the song “Cop Killer” by Ice-T, Live and Let Die was still released.

Many people consider it to be the AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted of the East Coast.

The album did not receive as much commercial success as G Rap’s other albums, but soon was considered a classic either way.

The cover of the album was mainly part of the controversy of the album showing the duo with two narcotic agents being hung by chairs with the duo using dogs and teasing them with food. The album was shelved and out of print because of this.

Live and Let Die had many types of stories genres like Crime Rap and also Mafioso and Horrorcore and some Sex Rap.

The production on the album was handled by The Trackmasters, Sir Jinx ad G Rap. Only 4 songs on the album were produced by Trackmasters. The rest of the songs were produced by JInx and G Rap.
