The Pitman High softball season is around the corner and underway. The Pride is striving for success.

This season, the PHS varsity softball team has great athletes that are building their way for success. Standout Alanah Laupua is playing her final season at Pitman and has set the bar high for the future incoming players. In her complete three years of playing, Laupua has received a total of the honorable mentions: First team all league most offensive, First team all league defensive, San Joaquin biggest defensive player and also has been Captain of the team her junior and now senior year.

Alongside Laupua, junior standouts Morgan Aguiniga, Claire Fountain and Lehua DeLeon also have been awarded for their skills and talent. Aguiniga received First team all League third baseman her freshman year, First team all League Catcher her sophomore year, and team captain sophomore year.

Lehua DeLeon has also been setting herself up for success with three honorable mentions including: First Team All League 2nd baseman both freshman and sophomore year and coaches award. DeLeon also was awarded with team captain her sophomore year and will continue to be one this year.

The Pride has a difficult and competitive schedule ahead of them. They will be playing the same teams as past seasons but they now will host  Manteca and El Capitan this 2017 season.

Last season, (2016) Pitman’s softball team had a difficult season with an overall record of 10-15 (ten wins-fifteen losses). The team is working to build off of the prior experience and have a better season this year.

Senior Laupua says, “Last year wasn’t our best season however we only lost two seniors last year meaning the team has grown in skill as a whole. Like any team, we have our strengths and weaknesses and we are well aware of it. We are continuing to work on these things and better ourselves. I have a good feeling about this season and am excited to be out on the field again with the girls.”
