For those of you who still watch Disney Channel and love Sonny with a Chance, well unfortunately, Sunny doesn’t have a chance! Demi Lovato: eighteen year old singer, song writer, and actress recently got out of a help center due to hurting herself by cutting, purging, and even punching one of her dancers offstage. Teenagers experience things like this everyday; we might not be the ones doing this but there is always someone else who does. These last couple of years, teenage celebrities who have been in the spotlight seem to not hit it off in the right direction. For instance, Lindsay Lohan, super talented actress, allowed drugs and alcohol get the best of her. Even though Miley Cyrus didn’t do anything “bad”, she posted a video of herself (thinking she was cool) smoking salvia and wanted to once again steal the headlines on E! News. As for Demi Lovato, however, she’s making an effort to change and fully recover in order to set an example for her younger sister Madison as someone who is ready for a change and wanting to move forward.
In the beginning, I was disappointed in her because I thought she was the only one who was not going to fall down since she’s a highly talented person with a very powerful voice and can hit the high notes extremely well. During this past year, I have heard no new news concerning her other than the same thing over and over again about her problems. It sucks to be put on the spotlight while everyone talks about you and eats you alive. I think most teenagers can relate to that problem all the time when they go to school.
Demi Lovato spoke out to 17 Magazine about her problems she faced in the past and her current effort to come off stronger in the future. The reasons for most of her issues were caused by pressure and mostly bullying; she has claimed that when she was young, a group of girls at school would call her fat and just make her feel uncomfortable and have an extremely low self-esteem. Coming from her, I felt that she was speaking the truth; I now understood where she was coming from and I totally misjudged her as one of those girls who choose to wash away their talent and end up putting their great career down the drain.
But Lovato is coming back! Perhaps not on the hit TV show Sunny with a Chance, but with a new album (hopefully soon)! I have heard one of her songs called “Got My Girls” which is a catchy tune and it seems as though it’s meant for one of the Jonas Brothers. Every one is excited for Demi’s return, and famous producer of all times, Timbaland, even wrote a song for her to sing (which you can catch on YouTube). So Demi, you still have a chance after all!
