This 2018 World Series was a battle between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Both sides put up a fight for the MLB Championship, wishing to be the best in baseball. For those who missed any of the games, here is a quick rundown of each one.

10/23/2018 – Los Angeles Dodgers @ Boston Red Sox – World Series Game 1

In Game One, the Red Sox handed the ball to Chris Sale, who pitched four innings, allowed five hits, three earned runs, and struck seven batters outs. Clayton Kershaw took the mound first for the Dodgers, pitching four innings, allowing seven hits, five earned runs, and striking out five. The Red Sox kicked things off initially in the first inning, when Andrew Benintendi hit a rbi-double, followed by a rbi-single from J.D. Martinez. Los Angeles responded in the second inning with a solo shot from Matt Kemp. Manny Machado smacked a rbi-single in the third inning to tie the game for the Dodgers. The Red Sox quickly regained their lead in the bottom of the third when J.D. Martinez had his second hit of the night, a rbi-double. In the fifth inning, Manny Machado had his second rbi of the game, this time a groundout that would once more tie things up. Xander Bogaerts was the one who broke the tie for the Red Sox this time around, hitting a rbi-single in the fifth inning and Rafael Devers added to their new lead with a second rbi-single. Manny Machado gained his third rbi of the night in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly, which made it a one-run game. Boston wiped out the close score in the bottom of the seventh when Eduardo Núñez slammed a three-run home run. This would make the final score 8-4, Boston prevailing in the first game.

10/24/2018 – Los Angeles Dodgers @ Boston Red Sox – World Series Game 2

In Game Two of the World Series, Boston led the series 1-0. The Red Sox had David Price as their starter pitcher, he pitched through six innings, allowed three hits, two earned runs, and struck out five batters. Hyun-Jin Ryu took the mound first for the Dodgers, where he pitched a little over four innings, allowed six hits, four earned runs, and five strikeouts. Ian Kinsler produced the first run of the game in the second inning when he hit a rbi-single to give Boston an early lead. The Dodgers tied things up in the fourth inning when Matt Kemp popped up a sacrifice fly and Yasiel Puig put them ahead with a rbi-single. In the fifth inning, Ryan Madson, a Dodgers’ pitcher, threw ball four, which brought in Red Sox player, Christian Vázquez, tying up the game for the second time of the night. J.D. Martinez regained the lead for Boston, also in the fifth inning, by hitting a two-run single. Boston won Game Two with a final score of 4-2.

10/26/2018 – Boston Red Sox @ Los Angeles Dodgers – World Series Game 3

In Game Three of the World Series, the Boston Red Sox led the series 2-0. Walker Buehler stepped to the mound first for the Dodgers, where he pitched seven innings, only allowing two hits, no earned runs, and he struck out seven batters. The Red Sox handed the ball to Rick Porcello, who pitched a little over four innings, allowed three hits, one earned run, and five strikeouts. The Dodgers were first to produce a run, when Joc Pederson smacked a solo homerun in the third inning. The Red Sox took awhile to strike back, but they eventually tied the game in the eighth inning with a solo home run from Jackie Bradley Jr. The game went into extra innings and the score remained 1-1 until the thirteenth inning, when Eduardo Núñez had an infield rbi-single on a passed ball that was thrown to first. The Dodgers matched them in the bottom of the thirteenth inning when Yasiel Puig also had an infield rbi-single on a bad throw from Ian Kinsler. This would push the game into the eighteenth inning! Max Muncy finally ended the game with a walk-off home run. The Dodgers won Game Three with a final score of 3-2.

10/27/2018 – Boston Red Sox @ Los Angeles Dodgers – World Series Game 4

In Game Four of the World Series, Boston led the series 2-1. The Dodgers’ starter for this game was Rich Hill, who pitched a little over six innings, allowed only one hit, one earned run, and struck out seven. Eduardo Rodríguez started for Boston, throwing a little over five innings, allowing four hits, four earned runs, and six strikeouts. The Dodgers’ were first to take the lead when Justin Turner reached home on a ball that got past first base during a double play in the sixth inning. Also in the sixth inning for the Dodgers, Yasiel Puig hit a three-run home run. Mitch Moreland was the first to get the Red Sox on the board in the seventh inning, following Puig’s three-run home run with one of his own. In the eighth inning, Steve Pearce tied the game for the Red Sox with a solo home run. The tie was broken in the ninth inning, when Red Sox player, Rafael Devers, hit a rbi-single. Steve Pearce added more to their lead with a three-run double in the ninth inning and Xander Bogaerts produced one more with a rbi-single. Enrique Hernández gave the Dodgers’ hope with a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth, but those were the only remaining runs composed for Los Angeles, leading to another win for Boston and a final score of 9-6.

10/28/2018 – Boston Red Sox @ Los Angeles Dodgers – World Series Game 5

In Game Five of the World Series, the Boston Red Sox led the series 3-1. Clayton Kershaw stepped on the mound first, pitching seven innings, allowing seven hits, four earned runs, and striking out five batters. Boston started David Price, who pitched seven innings, allowed three hits, one earned run, and five strikeouts. Steve Pearce started things off for Boston when he hit a two-run home run in the first inning. The Dodger’s retaliated in the bottom of the first with a solo home run from David Freese. The Red Sox continued to add to their lead in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez, and Steve Pearce all hit solo home runs. The Dodgers were unable to come back, making the final score 5-1 and the Boston Red Sox 2018 MLB Champions!
