Like most of you I’m sure, I love trying new food. While being at home it’s easy to get bored and unmotivated. Quarantine makes it hard to go out and get some of your favorite dishes from restaurants, so why not try to make it at home?
Learning to cook is a very useful skill in life and can make being at home fun! While some people do struggle even with following recipes, it still is a fun way to use your time and try new things. There are so many different recipes and types of easy meals out there to make with simple ingredients that can be just as delicious as those from restaurants. I am going to be telling you about my personal favorites and where you can find them :).
Different dishes require different ingredients, but most of these can be found super easy and super cheap. Here’s some of my personal favorites.
Dish 1: Chicken Chilaquiles
This delicious Mexican dish is very simple with very little directions that are easy to follow. The chicken can be optional and the ingredients are fairly simple. https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/food-recipes/easy/a34557/chicken-chilaquiles/ <–Link
Dish 2: Sweet and Sour Glazed Shrimp
Sweet and Sour Shrimp is one of my favorite dishes. It has a good balance of flavors and with this recipe it can be quick and simple. Paired with rice, this would be a delicious meal.

Dish 3: Glazed Salmon with Carrots
Salmon is very healthy and delicious with a nice honey glaze to it. Adding some spice and butter to the carrots makes it a delicious pairing.

Dish 4: Chicken Stir Fry
This dish can be very simple and fun to experiment with different vegetables and sauces. I personally love adding different asian sauces to it. It can be flavorful and very filling.
These are only some of the many easy delicious recipes that are out there. I asked a couple friends if they have been cooking more now that they have been in quarantine and this is what they said:
Victoria Spears (12th) – “I’ve recently become vegetarian and I have been finding more and more recipes during this break. It’s been fun trying new things with different foods.”
Kaylin Davis (College) – “I’ve found that since I am going to the store less, I am having to figure out stuff to make with what I have, so I have been creating a lot of new meals that I hadn’t before.”
As you can see, cooking can be a very time consuming thing, which may be good during Covid. It’s also a great life skill and can be very handy in the future. It’s so easy to look up so many different easy recipes to start you on your cooking journey. Here’s a website I think is good for people who like all types of food:https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/photos/30-minute-dinner-recipes . They are super simple and take less than 30 min!
