Pitman High School is proud to welcome a veteran P.E. Teacher/Athletics Coach. Although he is not native to Pitman High School, he seems to be fitting in and enjoys his surroundings. Coach Tyler is a former Turlock High School P.E. teacher and Turlock High School head football coach. In the past, Coach Tyler has taught in a variety of fields including: Health Education, Freshman Mini Courses, Opportunity, and P.E. But, after his twenty-two years in the business he has hung up his old whistle for a new one.
When asked what lead to his decision to transfer to PHS, and how he was enjoying PHS so far, Coach Taylor answered, “It is a change of scenery. I am having fun, and I feel like PHS is a special place.”
Now on the PHS faculty, Coach Tyler spends his mornings with P.E. classes, and he spends his afternoons with the PHS varsity football team. He is an offensive line coach and striker (outside linebacker) coach.
When asked how he felt about both PHS and THS programs and their campuses, he calmly, respectfully, and wisely said, “No Comment.” But, he went on to say, “PHS has wonderful students and faculty.”
Coach Tyler was led into his current teaching position and coaching position by his former coaches and instructors. Coach Tyler has always been an instructor and coach. He attended Davis High School and spread his college career out between MJC, CSU Stanislaus, and Fresno State. Coach Tyler is an all-around good guy and loves his job. I think I speak for all of PHS when I say, “We made a good move by picking up this free agent.”
