Aboard the spacious San Francisco Belle, Pitman HS enjoyed a night of “City Lights” at the 2009 Junior-Senior Prom.
This was Pitman’s third cruise and each one seems to be better than the last. The Belle had the largest dance floor of the three cruises, plus a great deal of additional space. Those attending knew it would be special when they entered the foyer of the ship and worked their way up a three-tier staircase.
Micah Judish was selected Prom King. Micah, active in leadership and an important part of both the football and track programs has received an appointment to the Air Force Academy.
Katie Staack was selected Prom Queen. Katie has been an active member of the Pride all four years. She is unique in that she has earned 12 varsity letters playing basketball, water polo, swimming and a season of track. Katie has received a scholarship to play basketball at Grand Canyon University in Arizona.
For the first time on a Pitman prom cruise it did not rain. While the weather was windy on deck, the water itself was calm enough for an enjoyable ride around the bay. Many of the prom-goers enjoyed their up-close and personal with the Golden Gate Bridge when the Belle cruised just up to it.
The Belle’s professional staff try the meet the needs of all the students. There was enough food for those gentleman who need and 2nd helping. The dessert table was never emptied, and there were plentiful amounts of sodas, and coffee for the revelers.
The students met in the gym prior to boarding eight buses to make the trip to Pier 3 from where the Hornblower cruises embark.
