Fling into spring with strings! On May 11th, Pitman Chamber and Concert Orchestras will perform their Spring Concert, giving a premiere performance, and presenting their yearly awards. With musically stimulating performances prepared, who would want to miss this concert?
Both orchestras have been preparing for the concert, and part of this preparation was a Forum Festival. Pitman orchestras recently performed in Anaheim in a Forum Festival. During this performance, the orchestras were given suggestions, comments, and praise about the selections performed by judges. After the orchestras performed, awards were given out. The Concert Orchestra received silver rating (second highest rating) and the Chamber Orchestra received a gold rating (highest rating). Mr. Grishaw, conductor and teacher for both orchestras added, “At the forum, there were many compliments about students and Pitman High.”
There are many talented musicians who took part in the Forum Festival, and who will also perform at the Spring Concert. Michael Donovan, a student at Pitman High and a member of the chamber orchestra composed a piece that will be performed for the first time in front of an audience. Some of the other pieces that can be expected to be heard at this concert are Water Music by Handel, Simple Symphony by Britten, Hopak by Moussorgsky, and many others. There will be music performed by each group, as well as a combined piece. The Spring Concert will be held in the Black Box Theater at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $1 for Pitman students, and free for children younger than ninth grade.
