On March 24, Pitman High participated in the 25th annual Stanislaus County Occupational Olympics and Career Exposition, held at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. Along with the competition, fifty-four industry and business representatives presented and spoke to students during the Career Exposition.
The students who participated in the Floriculture section were Aubree Atwood, Ethan Alvares, Hannah Wagner, Loise Hampsmire, Caitlin O’ Connel, Della Deal, Madison Holley and Stephanie Nielsen. They earned 2nd High Team as a group, and Aubree Atwood and Ethan Alvares were 2nd and 4th High Individual, respectively.
There were Pitman winners in other categories as well, all winning first place. Freshman Shin Tung won for Accounting, and senior Kayla Bird won for Hairstyling. Kassandra Barragan, also a senior, won for Medical Occupations.
Overall, Pitman High did well, taking home three floriculture awards and three other awards as well. About seven hundred students from Stanislaus County high schools participated, and they competed in twenty-three different events.
