1. Donate- This doesn’t have to be a donation where you spend all your Christmas money! You can give a couple of dollars or even donate an old sweater to keep those in need warm for the holidays! Have you heard the announcements lately? PHS arranged a donation for those in need. Everyone can donate and help save a life by bringing in sweaters or any other warm articles of clothing.
2. Canned food drive- There are thousands of people around the world each year that don’t have enough money to buy food for themselves or even their families during the holidays! Money isn’t just short for the people in need, but for everyone else too. If you think about it, one can, can make a huge difference!
3. Care Packages- Another way to help others is to make care packages that are filled with food and small Christmas presents. Mr. Jigour’s classes recently sent care packages to a foundation called the United Samaritans Foundation located here in Turlock. By doing this you won’t just help someone have a better Christmas, but you’ll also feel much more content when you do a good deed.
4. Sew clothes- Mrs. Cornell’s Fashion class is sewing clothes for small infant children to wear on the holidays! Be creative by making a small jacket, scarf, dress, etc. It is always nice to make something special for someone!
5. Be generous- Maybe you cannot afford to donate sweaters, sew clothes, or make care packages etc. Though money does not necessarily buy happiness, it surely does help in giving to others. If someone needs help on math homework, help them out! If you lent your friend money for a hot chocolate and they forgot to pay you back, don’t worry about it!
6. Holiday music and movies- They are always fun to watch during this winter holiday season and the Christmas songs are always fun to sing! They help bring up the joy to our souls!
7. Go Christmas caroling- It might sound lame, but it’s actually really cool! Go with a big group of people friends, family, or whoever! Instead of singing the classics, be bold and add a twist or a beat to the song! Who knows you might get a treat and have fun at the same time just by singing your little heart out!
8. Spend family time- Christmas is the holiday where most families come together, and what better way to do that than by baking cookies, making hot chocolate, and passing along the family traditions. For example, putting up the Christmas tree or putting up Christmas decorations.
9. Spread the holiday spirit- If you see someone whose going through a rough time and you want to help cheer them up, send them a Santa Gram at school. They’re only $3!
10. Don’t be a Scrooge! – Do not be selfish just because your Christmas isn’t going as planned and don’t ruin it for others! Be happy for once and appreciate the things you have in your life!
