A high school student has gone through many vaccines throughout their life time. Every time a student gets an immunization, he or she usually despises getting another, let alone volunteering to get a one.
Although donating blood requires a needle in one’s arm, for what seems to be forever, it has more benefits than people think.
PitmanHigh School has a blood drive twice a year. This blood drive took place on October 31, it was held to any volunteers to donate blood.
“It’s very beneficial to the school, the student, and mostly the victim who needed it the most,” stated junior, Vicente Rosales
It does, in fact, benefit the school; the school advances in showing a good role model when it comes to helping others out and building morals.
Students gain almost as much as the patient; knowing you have saved someone’s life is, to the majority, is the most precious thing anyone can go through.
“Although I was scared going into the bus to donate, knowing I saved someone life is my biggest motivator and puts an instant smile on my face,” stated junior, Seviny Ganji.
But no one gains more than the patient who receives the blood. What’s more important than the gift of life? Nothing. Nothing will ever be more important.
“After being in the hospital for days, knowing someone who donated blood with my blood type was the best feeling. Knowing the fact that if he or she never donated, I might have been waiting at least a couple more days, this would have worsened my condition. Every day I’m thankful,” exclaimed Shariel Soomalan, a patient who received blood.
