As some might already know, Hannah Graham, a blue eyed, freckled 18-year-old student who attended the University of Virginia as a sophomore, has been missing since September 13, 2014.
It was said to be that Hannah Graham was out partying and socializing on a late Friday night in downtown Charlottesviille, Virginia.
Graham was seen multiple times before she disappeared on September 13th 2014. She was first spotted at the party and afterwards at an apartment down the block. A surveillance camera caught her outside of a pub, were she was having drinks with a man who seems to be identified as Jesse Matthews, but then was seen running and stumbling past a gas station and was later seen at a restaurant.
Jesse LeRoy Matthew Jr, a 32 year old suspect in Hannah Graham’s disappearance, was taken into custody in Texas, 1300 miles away from the town were Hannah was last seen. He was transported to Virginia and sent to jail.
“We’re going to do whatever we can do to assist Virginia to locate that young lady” Galveston county sheriff Henry Trochesset told reporters.
Being accused of Hannah Graham’s disappearance, Jesse Matthews has a long tangled history of criminal acts. Matthew was convicted of trespassing in 2010, and was charged but not prosecuted with assault and attempted grand larceny in a 2009 case. He had a state taxi permit from 2007 to 2010, and picked up several traffic infractions.
Virginia police announced human remains had been found near Old Lynchburg Road about noon Saturday in an abandoned property during the search for the victim. Investigators are attempting to determine whether the remains belong to Graham.
John and Susan Graham, parents of the missing University of Virginia student, visited the Albemarle County site where human remains were found on Saturday. They were escorted onto the crime scene on the Old Lynchburg Road by Charlottesville police detectives, were they spent about 30 minutes viewing the location. Sources say Grahams parents just wanted to go visit the site.
“This sadly is now a death investigation,” Albemarle County Police Chief Steve Sellers held during a brief news conference.
Hannah was last heard at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, when she sent a text message to her friend telling her she was lost as she tried looking for them.
State police say that Matthews arrest in the Grahams case provided a forensic match to the disappearance and death of Morgan Harrington, a 20 year Virginia tech student who disappeared in 2009. A T-shirt found five years ago, that may belong to Harrington, could link both cases together.
Morgan Harrington’s remains were found in January 2010 in an Albemarle County field, which is half a dozen miles from the site were Graham’s remains were discovered.
Student leaders of the University of Virginia put together a memorial Sunday morning, filling up a chalkboard wall with messages from students as homecoming weekend came to an end.
“It’s good to know the entire community can come together and be supportive of one another even though we’re all so different, we’re all from such different backgrounds, it’s good to know that we have each other’s backs and we can be supportive,” states Natalie Anderson, a second year student at the University.
Hannah Graham was described as an athlete and a hardworking straight A student at the University of Virginia. Her impact on people made a difference today and she will always be remembered by her loved ones. The search for Hannah will be continued as Virginia police go out of their way, figuring out what really happen to the young girl.
