Yes, you read that right. MTV’s newest show “Sweet Vicious”, created by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, is all about seeking revenge on rape culprits around campus. Jules (Eliza Bennet) and Ophelia (Taylor Dearden) come together to warn those who have raped to never do it again. In doing so, Jules use violence to get her way and when Ophelia joins, things get a bit messy…

“Sweet Vicious” brought tons of attention mostly because it was a comedy show about rape. That doesn’t sound right does it? People were so curious to see how the creators would execute this sore topic. When the show first aired, it was a hit. The season’s first three episodes were aired on November 8, 2016.

Of course when watching a whole new series with characters you may not have seen before, you can’t help but be critical. This new show has the typical cheesy elements that make you want to cringe. However, as you keep watching, you take a liking to certain characters which makes you never want to stop watching. We start to notice that Ophelia is more of a comedic character and Jules is more serious.

The two main characters are completely different. One coming from a sorority house, and the other who prides herself on smoking out of a six-foot bong. When the two come together they form a sort of dynamic duo with Jules’ fighting abilities and knowledge and Ophelia’s computer hacking abilities. One can only predict that the two of them will become a big part of each other’s lives.

Both characters have personal issues. Jules is on academic probation and is threatening her scholarship while neglecting her sorority sisters. Ophelia is constantly getting herself in trouble and comes close to getting kicked out of school.

What is the motive for Jules to target these men? Seems to be that Jules has a past of her own. As she attacks and confronts the culprits, she says, “I thought no meant yes”, giving them a taste of their own medicine. There are some sexual assault scenes and a good amount of violence so viewers discretion is advised.

In the last moments of the episode, the girls get themselves into a bad situation that they can’t take back. Will this be the end of the starting friendship? Will they get caught? I guess you’ll have to keep watching to see how this sweet but vicious plot resolves.
