Released on August 26, 2016, Don’t Breathe was a huge success in the movie making industry. The movie snatched the number one rank on the top charts, despite being outshined by Suicide Squad which was released just a couple weeks prior.=

The movie travels through three teenagers’ experience in attempting to rob an old blind man of the only worth he has left, the large cash settlement he received after his daughter was killed in a crash. The teens believe that this will be a simple task considering there are no neighbors in sight and their only task is to find the safe with money and flee.

They quickly find out that they had underestimated their victim and this will not be so easy to accomplish. Turns out that the blind man knows the ins and outs of his house to a tee, and his other four senses are at maximum strength.

As the movie progresses the audience is strongly connected with the characters, and even begins to side with the teens as they make their journey through the jungle of a house. Although it is morally wrong, the audience still ends up rooting for the teens to steal the money.

This movie is a mix of crime, horror, and thrill all in one. Throughout the whole 88 minutes of the film, the director did a fantastic job at making sure the plot kept the audience on the edge of their seat the whole thing by incorporating countless jump scares and plot twists.

The actors played impressive parts as they took their roles which had very little character development, and turned them into something great. They continuously connected the audience closer and closer to them, and with the addition of being extremely quiet while sneaking around, made the audience feel just as claustrophobic and terrified as the main characters were.

After receiving an 87% on the tomatometer, Don’t Breathe proves to be just as good as the trailer makes it out to be. However if you are planning on watching it, be sure to skip out on watching the preview, as it reveals too much information on what the movie brings.

If you are into horror and thrillers, put Don’t Breathe as a must watch on your list of movies!

You will surely be flinching and screaming in terror, but keep in mind as you watch that this film is rated “R.”
