Pitman’s Girls JV soccer team was filled with excitement and apprehension as they prepared for their third league game. Pitman and Atwater were two equally good teams. Pitman gained possession of the game as soon as the first whistle was blown and it seemed to stay in their possession until the very end.
Vanessa Orozco scored the first goal for Pitman during the first half. Pitman continued to play an intense game of keep-away that lasted until half time. The score was 3-0, Pitman, at the start of the second half. Atwater gained control of the ball just long enough for them to score their one and only goal. Pitman didn’t let the goal get them down though. After a pep talk by their coach, they had their heads in the game even more than before. They scored their fourth and final goal with seconds left in the game. The game ended with a score 4-1 Pitman. I asked Mariah Emmons how she felt her team played and she replied, “We played great but there is always room for improvement.” The girls have another league game on Friday so come and support the Pride!
