It’s the end of the year and most of us are just happy that we’ve survived these gruesome 180 days of school but how many of us can say you had perfect attendance all year? What about all four years of high school? Sound impossible? Actually it’s quite easy. Stephanie Scott, a graduating senior, has had perfect attendance from freshman year to now.
She’s never missed one day of school, not even for sicknesses, doctor’s appointment, or any other excuse we all come up with to skip a day or two. But what’s really amazing about this is its part of a family tradition. Stephanie Scott’s mom never missed one day of high school and believes everyone should go to school no matter what. She has instilled these values on all three of her daughters, Sabrina Scott (the oldest), Stephanie Scott, and Samantha Scott (the youngest).
Sabrina Scott graduated last year without a single absent and now Stephanie will be the third Scott to achieve this and the next Scott shall be her little sister, who is coming in as a freshman next year, Samantha Scott.
When I sat down with Stephanie and asked her how she remained at school every day for all four years, she told me that going to school every day is really not that hard, school is school and it’s something you have to do. She also said that most kids just come up with excuses for missing school, all medical appointments can be made after school, but luckily Stephanie rarely gets sick and so is able to be at school everyday bright and early.
So I say we should all make a new school year resolution to try and come to school every day without gaining one single absent for the whole year, if the Scotts can do it then so can we!
