The Lady Pride kept the ball rolling during the 2011 Soccer season as they took to the field one last time against our all around rival, the Turlock Bulldogs.
Junior Varsity played first. Their season was an incredible 16-2-1, they had lost to Turlock and Merced and a tied with Turlock. During the first round of the season, Pitman’s JV team was undefeated, until they were beaten out by Turlock in the second round. The final game against Turlock was intense. Turlock had already beaten Pitman once, tied another time, and now the question was in the air. Who would dominate the field this time? The quarter started off quickly and nearing half time, Pitman scored a goal. Hopes were high and the air was thick with anticipation because the game was still not yet over. In the beginning of the second half, Turlock scored. The score now 1-1 put everyone on edge. Pitman did not come to tie yet again with Turlock, they came to win. In the end with two minutes remaining, a forward on Pitman, got past the unstoppable Turlock sweeper and scored the final goal. Because we had lost one more time than Turlock had, Pitman could not win CCC’s, but a win against Turlock was more satisfying than any other team we could have gone up against.
Next up to play was Varsity. Whether Varsity won or not, they would still be attending playoffs due to their outstanding season record of 17-1. In previous games against Turlock, Pitman had beaten them hands down. This game was no different. The Lady Pride played until the end of the game came, signaled by the referees whistle. The score was 2-1 and Pitman was going to the CCC playoffs.
