Fall has finally arrived which marks the beginning of cool days, sweater weather and colorful leaves. People are already talking with excitement, not about the season but the moon itself. The moon came prodigious, sending mix signals to humans.

“I stayed up until 10ish. I saw many clouds and no moon. When I hear people talking about how amazing the moon looked I feel depressed on a way since I wasn’t able to presence such an amazing phenomenon,” expresses a 9th grader Aylin Rosales from John H. Pitman Highschool. She is one of the many who tried to spot this mysterious moon phase.

The world is accustomed to seeing the moon in some shade of white in its annual phases but we rarely get the opportunity to see it red.

On September 28, 2015, the fourth and final in an ongoing tetrad occurred. A tetrad is a series of four consecutive total eclipses that occurred at approximately six months intervals according to NASA.

The moon during this stage passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra giving the moon that reddish color.

The world was prepared and up all night in hopes of catching and capturing this moment. Not all of them were as lucky as others due to their location.

The Total Lunar Eclipse (Blood Moon) was reported to only be visible in most of North America, South America, Asia and some parts of Australia for the total of about 5 minutes.

This wasn’t just any ordinary event claims CNN.

“It was a special one for at least two reasons. First, it was a supermoon,  it made it look particularly large in years, a phenomenon called a tetrad. Those can happen a couple times in a century or they can make themselves very rare, skipping a few centuries.”

Other than a mouth dropping view that this eclipsing moon brought to us, many people received it as a message. The message that was received has been considered possible in a way. Five words, sixteen letters: the end of the world.

Many religious groups such as Christians believe they’ve just received a warning from their god. They believe that the eclipse is hinting them that the return of Jesus on Earth will happen soon as described in the Bible. Some say a massive earthquake will lead to the world’s end , others say that the start of World War Three may be the cause.

This spectacular moment was being viewed widely and being talked about non-stop. Theories, prophecies and explanations are being told by all sorts of people.

The Total Lunar Eclipse  or Blood  is  not just being acknowledge scientifically but beyond other perspectives . Some people may see it as science others with religious purposes. We may never actually know what this moon may mean but all we have left is to study and observe it carefully. For the next time , we’ll be prepared to see the next blood moon which scientists predict to be in 2033.
