Twenty- seven year old Adele Adkins’ new hit single ‘Hello’ has not only been a comeback for her, but also a chart-topping song breaking various records.

Her hit single has broken over seven records, demolishing the standings of artists like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Drake, and so on. The music video for “Hello” has the record for the most views on Youtube in a week at 27 million.

“Hello” was originally released by XL Records on October 23 and currently has over 200,000,000 views on Youtube as of November 2.

Adele’s next album “25” is expected to not just make the top charts, but rank at #1. She calls it her “make-up record”.

Adele hadn’t released a new song and or album since October of 2012, when she recorded the song “Skyfall” for the James Bond film of the same name.

Many thought her career had come to an end because she took such a long break.

“Hello” did something for Adele that no song has done for an artist before: sold over 1 million U.S. downloads in one week. Adele surpassed the previous record holder, Flo Rida and his hit “Right Round” at 636,000 in 2009. According to Business Insider, it’s very difficult to sell 1 million copies in a week in the U.S. Recently, only two other artists Drake and Taylor Swift have done so.

Whether or not Adele will receive a Grammy for this song, is yet to be determined. Although, considering the awards she already has, she will succeed to do so. She currently has 86 music awards including 10 Grammy awards, 13 Billboard music awards, and 4 American Music awards.

Although many of her songs focus on breakups and betrayal, “Hello” was written as a reconnection to herself. When she said album “25” will be her “make-up record” many thought she either meant as a make-up for her career or a relationship. Adele tweeted a letter to her fans, “I’m making up with myself. For all the lost time.”

At the end of a letter she wrote about the “new her,” and she apologized for taking so long to come out with new songs. She writes, “I’m sorry it took so long but you know, life happens.”

Adele’s new song “Hello” has been one of the greatest comebacks for an artist breaking various records. Not only has her song opened many doors for her, but showed the audience the “new Adele.”
