Ronda Rousey’s K.O.

The highly anticipated UFC fight between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm will go down in history as the biggest upset in mixed martial arts. The fight was a true underdog story that turned the tables on UFC’s biggest star and women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey with an unbelievable knockout.
Rousey entered the octagon eager and confident to defend her Bantamweight championship for the seventh time when she stepped in with undefeated fighter, and former kick boxer Holly Holm. Even during the Friday night weigh ins, Rousey was ready to take down Holm insulting her with vulgar language.
“I see through your fake sweet act now…I’m really going to enjoy the beating I give you” A statement given by Rousey before the fight.
The recap of round one included Rousey throwing her left and right hooks but Holm, with incredible footwork dodged and worked her way around the octagon. Many commented on Rousey’s “poor use of defense”, and “desperation” especially when Rousey attempted to take Holm to the ground, Holm managed to escape Rousey’s famous arm bar and slipped the pin (got out from under Rousey’s hold) and from there Holm picked Rousey apart.
Round two is where it all ended for Rousey. It was quite obvious that she was desperate at this point as she continued to recklessly chase Holm around the cage. Holm remained focused landing left hooks that left Rousey stumbling and eventually gave that brutal head kick knocking Rousey to the ground and ending it with a few more hits to the head. Rousey was knocked unconscious before she even hit the ground.
Holm now holds the new Bantamweight championship and still remains undefeated.
The media has already overwhelmed Holly Holm over her new victory. Critics found her overall performance absolutely amazing nothing but precision and patience compared to Rousey’s rather disappointing performance. Not only were Rousey’s hits ineffective, but her poor sportsmanship and vicious behavior accompanied her downfall.
Other celebrities like floyd Mayweather commented after the fight saying, “I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don’t let this discourage you.”
While Donald Trump went to twitter with “Glad to see that @RondaRousey lost her championship fight last night.Was soundly beaten- not a nice person!”
A rematch has already made it’s way to headlines. Will Ronda Rousey regain her title as the women’s Bantamweight champion or is Holly Holm the new face of the UFC? Only one way to find out and that’s in the upcoming rematch that is bound to happen.
