Teens these days are living life to the fullest. Whether it’s skydiving, to dancing in the rain or even drinking a cup of Starbucks; they enjoy capturing and sharing the moment. Snapchat has been there from the start to help share the memories free of charge but lately there has been a big upset over the app.

Recently, the app released a new update where people have special selfie lenses. These lenses enhanced video or picture graphics such as rainbows and underwater effects. At first it was free of charge, and very easy to use. Users loved it until a new update came along with a set of new privacy policies.

Snapchat is starting to charge users .99 cents for special lenses filters. Thirty of the filters are being charged while seven are left free for the public.

“I think it’s ridiculous. People shouldn’t be charging others to change the effects on the picture. Honestly, I wouldn’t waste my money. Snapchat is going to receive bad publicity now,” responds Snapchat user and PHS student Alibel Sahagun (9).

Sahagun is not the only user to voice her concern on this update.

Messages were being sent to Snapchat expressing how ridiculous and unnecessary the charges fee is. Users seem determined not to pay for it.

“It didn’t take long for Snapchat to start making you pay for those filters. Thanks for ruining a fun idea,” responds Snapchat user Aaron Hren on twitter.

Not only is the company charging for the lenses but they also started charging replays. If you want to see the picture they sent you again it’ll cost a buck. Users will get three replays.

Some agree with the fee Snapchat is charging. They believe it’s a way for Snapchat to make more money.

There is no posts or any other message from the company Snapchat that hasn’t stated anything . No sign on about and why these fees are being established.

It’s hard to believe that Snapchat has been up for over four years already. With millions installing the app, making it one of the most popular apps on the Appstore, but when something upsetting happens it changes. Many have already uninstalled the app not happy with the new fees, while others wait for what another update may bring.
