Valentine’s Day can be a very dreaded or loved holiday. People are either increasing their daily dosage of PDA (public display of affection) or are overdosing on Ben and Jerry’s. Here are a few tips to survive the holiday of love, no matter your relationship status.

Singles

Being in a relationship isn’t necessary to enjoy Valentine’s Day. No need to be in a relationship to have fun of Valentine’s Day because there are many more options than feeling pressured to have a date that night.

  • Invite a few single friends over and order everyone’s favorite foods. Make the best of the holiday by enjoying it with your friends.
  • Being with friends is not the only way to have fun on Valentine’s Day. Instead of having people over and surpassing the amount of calories Fitbit suggests, try doing something new and different. Go to a concert, crash a party, or even study for the test you have been avoiding.
  • If leaving your comfort zone is not an option, try starting a new TV series or watching a movie marathon. The walking dead is highly recommended.

It’s Complicated

Almost every relationship has gone through an awkward stage where the relationship has either not been defined or the other half of the relationship has no idea what’s going on.

  • Make plans without them if the relationship is not at the stage where spending holidays together is necessary then enjoy the night without them.
  • Talk about it Valentine’s Day is a perfect time to define the relationship. Even if the plan backfires a cheap boxes of chocolates can be found to mend all.
  • Lower expectations if the relationship has not be defined, no one truly knows a gift to buy that perfectly explains how they feel. So to avoid having a broken heart do not expect a giant teddy bear if the relationship is stuck in the middle.

Taken

Valentine’s Day can be a very difficult day for anyone, even if the people in question are in a serious relationship.

  • Night out on the town go dancing, dinner, or even to a movie. Enjoy the holiday with a nice evening out.
  • If going out is something that happens very often then switch it up and stay home. Cook each other’s favorite or just cook something that was found in a cookbook.
  • Surprise each other, if usual gifts are boring then add a spending limit a few rules and expect a one of a kind gift that no one else will have.

Many people don’t enjoy this holiday because it being memories of past relationships or reminds the singles that the clock is ticking. But, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about love but instead could be about enjoying the holiday with friends and family.
