Mr. Robot

The USA Networks release of Mr. Robot created by Sam Esmail (unknown producer of small projects) starring Rami Malek and Christian Slater has raised the bar for the next best drama series.

Not only is the show captivating and intense but it truly represents realism in today’s modern world.

The series follows Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) a vigilante hacker who has been recruited by a mysterious man referred to as Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), leader of the secret organization known as fsociety to help destroy the world’s largest corporate business E-corps.

Throughout the show Elliot’s social awkwardness and anxious behavior leads viewers to believe that he is in some way physiologically damaged. He connects to people by hacking them and invading their private information to either expose them or to protect those he cares about.

These impulsive actions give the show an irresistibly interesting plot line that does not only focus on anti-corporate politics but the fear of exposure itself.

Elliots motives for taking down e corps stems from the loss of his father that the corporation contributed to. Mr. Robot gives Elliot the chance to destroy the “Evil-corps” but Elliot has to make the sacrifice of betraying the company and new friends he works for to begin a revolution at the press of a button.

fsociety’s goal and reason they wish to recruited Elliot is to bring down the world’s corporate structure by erasing all of E-corp’s data, eliminating debt and capitalism.

Mr. Robot has been critically acclaimed by TIME Magazine, Entertainment weekly, Variety and many more not only for its accurate portrayal of hacking culture, but as well as its ingenious plot line that leaves viewers just as anxious and emotionally conflicted as Elliot’s character.

Mr. Robot is one of the few TV shows to successfully portray subjective experience, the world as experienced by one damaged mind.”

TIME Magazine

“Mr. Robot is a worldview-challenging psychological thriller that’s steeped in new-century punk politics, nervy with digital-age anxiety, and made with slick, smart panache.”

Entertainment Weekly

“Structurally impressive, but the show is more than just a cool machine, built smart enough to be dissected and studied by thousands of Redditors”

Slate

The series is a success winning a Golden globe for its first season as the best television drama. Fans can only hope that the show gets better and continues to draw in viewers as the series waits to air its second season this summer.
