As the Iowa Caucus draws to a close, one candidate has surprisingly shown a great rush of support from Republican voters.  That one candidate is Marco Rubio, the 44 year old senator from Florida.

The final polls from the Iowa caucus show that Rubio had seven delegates, tying with Donald Trump, and just one delegate behind the winner, Ted Cruz.

“They told me that we have no chance because my hair wasn’t gray enough and my boots were too high. They told me I needed to wait my turn, that I needed to wait in line. But tonight, tonight here in Iowa, the people of this great state have sent a very clear message. After seven years of Barack Obama, we are not waiting any longer to take our country back,” Rubio said in a speech after hearing about his third place victory.

However, how did this one candidate seem to rise overnight, after struggling polls?

According to The Washington Post, Marco Rubio’s moderate stance allows him to gain the support of moderate voters, as well as conservative voters.

They also note his likeable personality, which appeals to voters.

After his finish in Iowa, betting pools in Las Vegas gave him a one in three chance of becoming the Republican nominee.

Betting pools have tended to be much more accurate in predicting politics, as bettors are not swayed by media.

On the contrary, the betting odds for Donald Trump becoming the Nominee dropped from 1 in 2 to a 1 in 3 chance.

The winner of the Iowa caucus, Ted Cruz, has about a 1 in 5 chance of becoming the nominee, as most of his votes came from evangelical voters in Iowa. Outside of Iowa, there is little evangelical voters.

According to Real Clear Politics, Rubio has 15.1% of the total Republican support, putting him in second place in New Hampshire. However, the front runner Donald Trump has a dominating lead with 31.3%.

Aiding Rubio’s campaign is a wave of celebrity  endorsements, including former presidential candidate Rick Santorum, lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd Johnny van Zant, and reality TV star Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars.

In an interview with CNN, Richard Harrison explains why he threw his support to Rubio.

“I got invited to a political thing in town and we got to talking. I was deeply impressed. It was the first time I sat down with a politician that long and it wasn’t “the party, the party, the party.” All he was talking about was people. Quite frankly, I’ve never had a politician talk like that.”

Harrison also explained that Rubio was raised on living paycheck to paycheck, which Harrison thought allowed Rubio to experience what the average American experiences.

Most of Rubio’s endorsements comes from Republican senators in Washington DC. They see Rubio as they last hope, as Trump is almost a clown to them, and they almost share a resentment for Cruz.

Another major factor in to Rubio’s rise was the withdrawal of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. He had a majority of traditional establishment voters, on the contrary of the anti-establishment voters that support Trump and Cruz.

Walkers voters had to choose between Jeb Bush on Marco Rubio. They chose Rubio, and that started to close the gap between Jeb Bush’s lead and Rubio.

As the first primary in the country takes place in New Hampshire on February 9th, the country will see how Marco Rubio fares against the Titan that is Donald Trump.
