If you love all assortments of spooks, frights, or scares, and have ever taken a vacation to the most magical place on Earth, then you might be sad to hear that the Tower of Terror will be shutting down soon.

The higher ups at Disneyland have decided that the Tower of Terror needs to go and unfortunately for the park’s visitors the Tower of Terror will be have it’s last ride on January 2nd, 2017.

Fortunately, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for the Tower of Terror. The building will be repurposed and revamped for a new thrill ride called “Mission: Breakout!” that will be opening in the summer of 2017.

There’s been some speculation as to why Disneyland would replace one of it’s most popular rides,  mostly due to its merger with Marvel Studios.

The Tower of Terror costs Disneyland a pretty penny to keep using clips and soundbites from “The Twilight Zone.”

With Disneyland’s merger with Marvel Studios they can use any of Marvel’s intellectual property with no cost.

“Mission: Breakout!” will focus on Marvel’s film, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, and will be a very similar experience to the Tower of Terror. Riders will help Rocket Raccoon save the rest of the guardians from the one of the film’s big bad villains.

The new design for the tower already has concept and a to scale model of its redesign. The tower’s design does a good job of fitting into the film’s futuristic space setting. However, the new design has sparked some controversy with fans of the Tower of Terror who are attached to the hotel’s haunting architecture.

Of course, if you are the devastated that the Tower of Terror is closing, then you can experience it in a whole new way for a limited time. Disneyland is hosting a “Late Checkout” for the riders of the Tower of Terror where you can experience the haunted hotel in complete darkness.

Any diehard fans of the Tower of Terror should be happy to know that only the one in Disneyland California Adventure will be shutting down. So if you want to experience the terror after the closing date, then you could always take a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

So check into the haunted hotel before it’s closing or you might never get the chance to experience such a terrifying thrill ride again in your life.
