Last year, a group of students, coaches, and teachers put together a new club called “Fellowship of Christian Athletes.” (FCA)

“I joined FCA because I love Jesus and I want to learn how to serve him through my sport,” says Volleyball Player Hailee Derr.

FCA was put together to help spread the word of God while students played the sports that the they love. They also welcome guest speakers to come and speak to the athletes about their experience with God.

“I find it important for student athletes to have a close relationship with God, because having faith and playing for him(God) motivates athletes to perform to their best ability not only for themselves but for God,” says senior varsity soccer player and secretary of FCA Macy Reza.

This club has a wide variety of athletes who play sports for Pitman. Some sports are Football, Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, and Water Polo.

FCA also likes to participate in many volunteer events near our area such as gift giving during the holiday season, and helping out during the Modesto marathon.

“No one is forcing you to have a relationship with God, I used to rely on people for answers and self image in Volleyball, when really God should be the one I turn to. I play for an audience of one,” says Derr.

FCA could be important for students who are looking for a close relationship with god, or already have one, while incorporating a passion for athletes.

There are meetings every Wednesday in Coach Curtis’ classroom located in H113. New athletes are always welcome.
