A List of Things I Hate

Karly Halsey (12th), Reporter

Contrary to popular belief of the word “hate” being too strong of a word to be used frequently, I find it very useful in my everyday vocabulary. The dictionary definition of “hate” is actually “to feel intense or passionate dislike towards someone or something” which to me, describes my feelings towards a lot of situations.

Day to day many things occur that really grind my gears, so much to the extent where I thought it was necessary to share my peeves.

Rather than rolling my eyes and getting angry over a situation, I decided write down what bothers me.

  • When people wake me up when I am sleeping. – Sleep is a very important essential in life, and especially for teenagers. Personally I take naps very seriously, if the reason is not urgent, there should be no need to disrupt my peacefulness.
  • When people leave wet towels on the floor after their shower. – C’mon, show some respect, it really isn’t THAT hard to pick up your towel and hang it up so it isn’t left for someone else to deal with later.
  • When people take my stuff. – My stuff is my stuff for a reason, I bought it because I wanted it, not because I wanted to give it away.
  • When I lose things. – Once again, I enjoy my stuff, and misplacing things irks me a lot.
  • Waiting on people. – If I am late I want it to be able to put the blame on myself and not miss out on an opportunity due to someone else’s lack of time management.
  • Sharing bathrooms. – If there is limited bathrooms and somebody knows they are going to take a long shower, at least have the decency to ask if anybody needs to use the bathroom first.
  • When people try to talk bad about my friends. – If I ranted to someone, they better have the decency to listen and keep their mouth shut, rather than think they have the right to make any jokes about past situations.
  • When adults act childish. – Does it really take that many years to grow up and mature?
  • When people get legitimately mad when things don’t go their way. – Life is never simple and easy, it’s okay when not everything goes perfectly.
  • When people ask too many questions about me. – Just don’t. You don’t need to know things about me that even I don’t care about.
  • When people say “same difference.” – It’s an annoying paradox and doesn’t even make any sense.
  • When I’m wrong. – I guess I like to argue a lot and being proven wrong is definitely not on my list of things I enjoy.
  • When people don’t know how to argue. – At least he able to back yourself up if you are going to argue, I can’t win if there is no argument to start with.
  • When I get teased for being indecisive. – I don’t like choosing wrong decisions, hence why I am indecisive. Don’t mock me for it.
  • When people bring up the fact that I am mad. – I know when I’m mad and I don’t need to be reminded, it just makes the situation worse.
  • And finally, I hate that I have to put all the things I hate into a list.
