Welcome to a new semester to a new year students! It’s time to come out of hibernation, get up from the couches and get back to high school. I know it’s hard to get back to the routine of doing homework or studying for tests, or even getting out of bed early. So here are some ways to not only fix our routines, but also make improvements from last year,

First, make a schedule. Now I know, you probably heard this suggestion a million times, but it can be helpful. Especially when you have so much to. And it can help you get into a routine. Think about what needs to be done. Straight out your priorities. Put first what is most important, than put the least important thing to do last. Don’t worry if something gets in the way of your plans. If you missed something you weren’t able to do, just try to do it another time. Also don’t make this your permanent schedule. Maybe after a month, change your routine! You’ll get exhausted following the same pattern after 3 weeks.

I know this one is one of the hardest things to do, but try to get up as early as you can for school. During the break, we would stay up as late as 1 in the morning, and wake up as late as 1 in the afternoon. Now it’s time to get up as early as 7 in the morning. Make sure to set up an alarm clock. And when you hear it, don’t hit the snooze button, just turn it off and slowly try to get out of bed. Another way you can get up early is go to bed early. Go to sleep by 10 o’clock or earlier if you prefer. Don’t stay up too late. Trust me, you’ll be happier in the morning if you go to bed early. If you have something to work on for school or anything, then try to stay up until 11. No later than that!

Which leads me to my next advice: Avoid procrastination! Yea, yea, we’ve all heard this but for real this time, try not to procrastinate too much. Be realistic. Students tend to procrastinate eventually, even when they say they won’t, they will. Just try not to procrastinate a lot. One or two days are forgivable, but longer than that; you are gonna regret it. So do yourself a favor, get your work done as early as you can.

New schedule, waking up well rested and feeling fresh, and resisting procrastinating, those are all the key to a great successful school year!
