Although Turlock is a small town compared to others, new places are being built left and right, like the bowling alley, which will provide more variety when people decide where to hang out. As years have past, more and more events have been held in the Turlock-Modesto area too. They appeal to all types of audiences; there is something for everyone to enjoy. Examples include monster truck shows for car and truck fanatics as well as the upcoming Comic Con in Turlock that may appeal to cosplayers/comic book fans.

The 2018 Comic Con in Turlock will be open to everyone and will be held at 900 North Broadway, or more notably known as the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. On February 11, adults, children, and teenagers alike are encouraged to attend and participate in events like the “Dress to Impress Cosplay (Costume) Contest.” The costume contest starts promptly at 2:30 p.m but the overall event is from 11: 00 a.m to 5 p.m. The third annual Comic Con is of interest to anyone who enjoys anything ranging from pop culture to television shows.

Tickets have been selling at the following stores but it is uncertain if they still have tickets left to give:

Ziggy’s Video Games in Turlock on North Golden State Blvd.

Studio A Salon in Ceres on E. Hatch Road

Modesto Game Exchange in Modesto on Burney Street

Invincible Comics in Modesto on W. Orangeburg Avenue

Comics Plus in Los Banos on Center Avenue

The price of tickets are only five dollars, if they are bought in advance. They are sold at the door too but for seven dollars. Kids under 12 can get in for free, and parking is free too!

Another upcoming event in the area will be the two day Turlock Gun Show. It will take place at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds on February 17th and 18th, which is a Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the event will be from 9:00 a.m to 5 p.m. However, on Sunday it will be from 9:00 a.m to 4 p.m. Admission fees will be $10 and the ticket can be good for both days. If for some reason you are unable to attend don’t worry, there will be another show…but in October of 2018.

Further information regarding this show is yet to be released. However, it is expected for participants to understand that all federal, state, and local firearm ordinances and laws must be obeyed.

These two events will both be showcased this month so ticket availability is not guaranteed. If these events do not fit your unique interests and hobbies, I highly suggest still checking in with the community news as spring and summer events are yet to come.
