Students in high school express themselves in different ways including different arts or sports or even style. There are different styles and new unique groups of people generating everyday with social media and influencers. More and different subgroups of styles are growing way more than how it used to be. With instagram being one the of the top social media site with over a billion users people can display their own images of their favorite outfits.

I myself have no place to be speaking about style considering I don’t even know what size pants I wear. But the first tip on how to find your sense of style is to find someone who you generally like how they dress.

Paige Peterson from Turlock High said, “I guess the Brandy Melville Instagram page is my inspo in terms of what I’m influenced by.” She continues to say that even though it seems cliche the have a lot of “simple outfits.”

Once you found someone whose style you like you can find people like them because it’s good to have several different people you take style inspiration from. If you really think about it we all are different versions of each other and we take personality traits from others so why not style?

The idea of mixing and matching different categories of clothing because you can find something and make it your own.

Madi Friesen from Atwater high says “I would classify my style like a 90’s skater girl with a little bit of a punk rock style because I do wear the average baggy Levi’s and Vans with band tees/skater shirts.”

I like art, so I often time buy cheaper clothing and modify it and make it my own. By modifying i mean cutting up, sewing, and painting. I buy cheaper clothing from thrift stores because if I ruin it I wont feel so bad, also I’m not made of money.

Sara Lindquist painted her pants and said that Van Gogh was her inspiration. She painted

Her pants pockets with little flowers.

This leave us with the last most fun part of getting ready in the morning, accessorizing. I like this step because it’s the most personal. I love different hair accessories, necklaces, and earrings. Most of the time I wear little hair clips and hoop earrings.

Speaking of hair another way you can find your style is through coloring your hair. Dying your hair is not the most accessible way but once you do it you feel like a new person. From brunette to green you have so many choices.

Sabrina Alcala says she dyes her hair, because “seeing something different is pleasing”.

Finding your own personal style should be something that reflects your personality somewhat . You can show some of your interests with clothing such as merch or brands brands you like.

One tip is to match your shoes to your shirt or matching your socks. You can wear any bottoms but if your shirt matches your shoes it makes the whole outfit and makes you look put together.

Finding your own style takes time; collecting different pieces and learning how you like to put them together takes time and is a process. I dress way different than how I did my freshman year and I feel like your style can grow with you. Just find what you like and build off of it.
