Each of the twelve horoscope signs belongs to one of the four elements: air, fire, water and earth. These elements represent a type of energy that acts in each of us. The 12 zodiac signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.

By analyzing the the position of planets, and the Sun, and the Moon, on the Ecliptic at the moment of birth, astrology can give us a brief look of a person’s characteristics, preferences, flaws, fears, emotions, or facts about their love life.

Zodiac signs are often shown on social media. Many people like to stop and take a look at what their sign may say about their flaws or about their love life. The real questions are: Are these astrology signs true or is it just a matter of coincidence and luck and should people believe in them and trust them?

Emma Van Nieuwenhuyzen, a high school freshman and a Libra, is a strong believer in astrology signs.

“I see instagram posts about these signs and everytime I look at my sign about my interests and other stuff, they’re always right,” says Emma.

When Emma sees that these are right, she feels that it is suspicious because she doesn’t know how they get this information or how they are always right, but she believes in them.

Viviana Del Real, another freshman here at Pitman and a Taurus, doesn’t think these astrology signs are true.

“I see them all the time on social media and I think it’s just a coincidence that they’re right sometimes. I don’t think that the the stars or the path of the sun can determine a person’s future or how a person feels or how they act. It just doesn’t really make sense to me.”

Viviana also stated that even though she doesn’t believe in these signs, it’s entertaining to see what they have to say about her and other signs even if they aren’t always right.

Another anonymous student that happens to be a Pisces, said that he didn’t believe in these astrology signs because the majority of the time, they are wrong and describe nothing about him.

“Maybe if they were right most of the time, I would kind of believe them but since they aren’t most of the time, I chose not to,” he stated.

Many people have different point of views based on this topic but who is right in this discussion? The zodiac signs that correspond to the constellations were constellations from over two thousand years ago! Even if they did stay the same, one shouldn’t completely judge a person by looking at their sun sign. If people use logic to determine whether believe in these astrology signs or not, they will most likely decide that they are not true, but I guess that’s up for the person to decide.
