Look out trainers because an all new pokemon game is coming your way! Pokemon Sword and Shield is set to be released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch in late 2019.

The game will be set in the Galar region. The map revealed many new areas and locations for the player to explore. The trailer mainly showed off an industrial town and a countryside town which mainly took inspiration from locations in England.

Looking at the map we can see train tracks that could take the player into different locations. It leads into some underground areas, possibly the mines, and different towns.

The gyms also seem to have interesting locations giving the player a more exciting experience as they look for new pokemon. There are gyms up in the rocky mountains and others that are well hidden for the player to find.

I’m sure all of us are waiting for new pokemon to be revealed, but only the starters have been revealed so far. The starters are always a fire, water, and grass type like Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur.

The first of the trio is Scorbunny, the fire type. It is an adorable rabbit pokemon who is ready to battle at any moment. It leaves behind trails of fire as it hops away which I’m sure might come in handy when battling an opponent.

The second pokemon to be revealed is Sobble, the water type. It is a very timid lizard pokemon who can shoot water at its opponent and camouflage itself.

The third is Grookey, the grass type. It is a mischievous monkey pokemon that could attack it’s opponent with the stick it wears on it’s head.

The legendaries are yet to be revealed. There are no images or informations being released. The players are waiting anxiously to see what Nintendo will do to connect sword and shield to the legendary pokemon.

Many fan and players have already started making fan art and predictions about their evolutions and attacks. Of course their attacks haven’t been revealed or talked about yet, but this is what has been speculated based on the trailers Nintendo has released.

James Hill, president of Pitman’s game club has speculations of his own, “I find it interesting that they are doing it based on Britain. Looking at the region map, I think that it’s very diverse and there are many different biomes. I am very happy about that, it’s been forever since we’ve had multiple different biomes. All three of the starters look very round and very light colored. I find that strange because it’s very different from what they’ve done in the past.”

Of course not every pokemon game is going to be the same, each one has it’s one unique pokemon and style. Recently the creators have been adding in some new features to their games giving the games different environments and atmospheres.

Pokemon Sun and Moon was set on island giving many original pokemon their own dynamic island twists and personalities. Pokemon Sword and Shield is essentially trying to do the same to give the player and a different experience from the games in the past.
