Spring break is almost here! It feels like it’s been forever since Pitman High’s last break. Students can once again take a break from all the homework, tests, and assignments. The weather is starting to warm up and everybody is excited. Whether you spend your spring break with your family, friends, or even by yourself, there are many things that you can do this spring break.

Some students go on trips to Mexico or Hawaii and some go to Disneyland or Universal Studios. There’s many places around the world to travel to and explore. You can experience different cultures, meet new people, taste new foods, and see new things.

Even though the ideal spring break might be going on vacation out of state or even out of the country, you can always have fun without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars. Driving to a nearby beach, going shopping, playing sports, going on small lunch dates, or picnics are all things you could do with your friends and family.

Melissa Barragan, a junior here at Pitman High, said that she was very excited for this year’s spring break.

“The main things I’m going to do this spring break are go to Mexico and go to my cousin’s Quinceanera. I wouldn’t wish I was doing something else because I’m very happy with what I’m doing and where I’m going. For the days in between I’ll probably go shopping, go to the movies, or go eat out with all my friends,” says Barragan.

Another junior here at Pitman, Leylannie Sandoval, is also very happy for this years spring break to begin.

“I’m very excited for spring break because school has been very stressful for me and I’m ready for a stress free vacation. This spring break, I’m going to hang out with my friends, babysit, and go to Lake Tahoe for a few days. I do not wish I could be doing something else because I’m getting paid to babysit, I really enjoy spending time with my friends, and I love going to Lake Tahoe with my family. Although Turlock is a small town, you can go shopping with your friends, go eat out with them, and go bowling and play laser tag,” stated Sandoval.

A freshman student, Emma Van, loves taking breaks from school!

“I’m overjoyed that spring break is approaching because I have so many plans with friends and family. This spring break I plan on going to all my friend’s birthday parties, a Quinceanera, and spending time with my family. I do wish I was doing something else on spring break in addition to what I already have planned. It would be nice to go on a trip somewhere with a few friends,” Van comments

Van also agreed with Sandoval about what fun things there are to do here in Turlock over spring break. “There’s the movies a lots of places to eat, the shopping center, and i’m pretty sure the bowling alley is opening soon.”

At this point of the year, a lot of people struggle to keep up in school. Spring breaks gives students a chance to do something besides go to school even if it just means staying home and watching netflix. It’s clear that the students in Turlock need this break!
