Have you been up to date with the NBA? The NBA All-Star weekend was not too long ago. Many players from different teams have participated in this exciting weekend.

All- Star weekend is for the players that have been showing skill in different categories like shooting at the 3 point line with precision or soaring through the air and dunking the basketball. There are two different and major types of events for skills: the 3pt Contest and the Dunk Contest. Each  has different players that can perform well in these. The All- Star games for the superstars of the NBA go toe-to-toe with one another in an exciting game. The Rising Stars game is for the next upcoming faces of the NBA to play with one another.

In the All- Star 3pt contest. There were a total of 8 participants in this challenge. The winner, Buddy Heild from the Sacramento Kings scored 27 points out of the maximum 40. He beat a contest veteran Devin Booker,( from the Phoenix Suns). Booker scored 26 points, keeping the game narrow.

The next event in the All- Star weekend was the slam dunk contest. There were a total of 4 participants in this event. The winner was Derrick Jones Jr. from the Miami Heat. This Dunk Contest caused much  outrage from the fans on social media due to Aaron Gordon being robbed of the win again. Gordon for his last dunk jumped over Celtics center Tacko Fall. The man is 7’5 ! His final score was 47 out of 50.Many fans, including himself, thought he was robbed and deserved the 50 points.

The Rising Stars game has rookies that will be the face of the NBA with their ridiculous plays and athleticism. One of those players  named Zion Williamson, who has both of those and part-took in the game, attempted many flashy dunks and although he didn’t hit most of them, he did very well regarding all the pressure they placed on him during that game.

The final and main event in the All-Star game is when all the selected top tier players from all 30 teams meet up and play in a game that is meant for the fans. This year the 2 captains were Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James. Each containing 16 players that had enough votes to enter the game. This year there were minor changes to the final quarter, the proposition was that whoever can score 24 points will win the game. The point of this challenge was to honor former BasketBall Star Kobe Bryant (who had recently passed away). They also renamed the All- Star MVP award and changed it to the Kobe Bryant MVP Award to honor him. The person that won this award this year was Kawhi Leonard.

This year’s All-Star game was filled with fun and excitement. From my personal perspective, I also believe that Aaron Gordon should have won the dunk contest, and most people would agree with me but in the end the entertainment of the Game was great and I can’t wait to see next years.
