NBA FINALS RECAP

NBA FINALS RECAP

Nick Ashak (9th), Reporter

Today is October 26, 2020. Usually the NBA season would have started by now, but nope. It’s 2020. Anyway, the NBA Finals ended a few weeks ago and here is the recap.

Representing the Western Conference were the Los Angeles Lakers. Led by one of (not the THE greatest, I’m a Jordan guy) the greatest NBA players ever, Lebron James, and probably a future hall of famer in Anthony Davis, adding these two gods with veteran talent got them here into the big series.

Representing the Eastern Conference were the surprising Miami Heat. There were 4 better Eastern teams then them but they got here anyway, with young stars finally developing into gods during their playoff run. They also have an established veteran leader in Jimmy “Buckets” Butler, a household name.

While the series did not perform well for TV ratings, the players certainly performed excellent. It was a tough 6 game series actually.

The ratings were actually awful. Like worse than the Chicago Bulls (I am a Bulls fan) awful. Despite being in a global pandemic mainly stuck home, Game 6 had only 5.6 million viewers, the lowest rating in history HISTORY. This NBA finals will go down in history though.

In January 2020, NBA Legend/Lakers Legend Kobe Bryant sadly passed away from a helicopter crash. He was known for his leadership and positive attitude, and Lebron and Anthony Davis wanted to try harder to bring a title to Los Angeles.

The Miami Heat should have not NOT even been BEEN in the Finals, but they were. They fought hard to get there, just like they fought hard in the finals itself.

The Lakers did win, but they were close games. In Game 1, the Heat outscored the Lakers when it mattered more, but the Lakers won an intense game. In Game 2, it was one of the most back-and-forth games I have ever watched, as the score was mainly even throughout the games, but the Lakers won again.

The Heat were in trouble. Down 2-0, they needed their leader Jimmy Butler to step up, and he did. 40 POINTS IN ONE GAME AGAINST THE BEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE to win the game. He took that momentum into game 4 but they sadly lost a close game by only 6 points. Facing elimination, the whole team went insane and won in dramatic fashion, by 3, but they lost game 6, by a lot, so the Lakers won the finals.

There are only 2 things I can say. Lebron and AD gave LA their ring for good, they worked their butts off for it, but the HEAT man. They did not win but they gave their heart and soul.

As a Bulls fan, you know I wish we were there, but I can only hope the best for former bull Jimmy Butler. He tried extremely hard, and he gave a lesson to never give up.

My dad wanted the Lakers to win (Lebron fan), he stated that ¨Lebron went crazy this series.¨ My friend named Jackson, who is a freshman goes to Turlock High School stated that he wanted the HEAT to win because he does not like Lebron. He did not get his wish but the Heat should be back next year…..
