Timeless Retelling of Fear

By: Tristan Allen | Senior | Mrs. Smith (Homeroom)

A soft voice breaks the stunned silence;

A hand rises to the beat of violence;

Time wears on, but one thing’s still true:

All that there is revolves about you.

You’re the breath of life which ignites the flame,

The arbiter of knowledge,

Speaker of truth and prophet of change.

Forever young you’ll be,

endowed with the sage and sanguine duty to protect bygone precepts.

All too short, the long days become,

compounded by cyclical renewal of temerity.

We turn our blind eye away —

Yet, it’s the same tune played in a different pitch, only your ears seem to hear —

A soft voice breaks the stunned silence;

A hand rises to the beat of violence;

Time wears on, but one thing’s still true:

No matter what, we seem ne’er to listen to you.
