The Ultimate Xmas Playlist

The ultimate xmas playlist has been debatable ever since Christmas music first started being released. With there being plenty of iconic Christmas songs out there, it’s made it hard to pick which are the best. However, it’s not impossible.

The first song on the playlist would have to be “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. I mean come on, everyone knows this song. From My Chemical Romance to Big Time Rush, it’s been covered by a variety of artists.

According to Glamour, it’s one of the “best selling Christmas songs ever.”

With over 16 million copies sold worldwide, it’s the first ever Christmas song to be certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The next song to make the list is “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande. Sure, it’s not one of the classics, but it’s definitely popular and catchy. It also never fails to make Spotify’s Christmas Hits playlist every year.

One song that really gets us into the spirit is “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms. Having been in the iconic 2004 movie Mean Girls, it’s a widely well known song. Not including this song would almost be a crime.

To create a better, unbiased playlist, I asked some people around campus what songs they’d include.

“Maybe, Feliz Navidad. It’s a good song,” says Karen Perez.

“Definitely Let it Snow. It’s a classic,” Alley Popplewell responded.

While on the topic of classics, another song that would be in this playlist is “Last Christmas” by Wham!. Much like Carey’s song, it’s been covered by multiple artists, including Taylor Swift and Gwen Stefani.

“Last Christmas” can be considered one of the most well-known Christmas songs, having sold over 1.9 million copies worldwide. However, despite it being so famous, it just hit number 1 in the UK for the first time last year. Of course, this doesn’t dismount it’s insane popularity.

One last song I think that needs to be included is “It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas” sung by Michael Buble. Having been one of the most popular xmas songs since it’s release, it would need to be on this playlist.

I think this is a wrap to our playlist. Of course, only a few songs isnt enough for a proper playlist, so I hope you take this as the beginning of your incredible list. Have fun and enjoy the holidays building your own ultimate xmas playlist!
