Marissa de Yavhe Gaytan otherwise known as Meche and Tessa Ortega are famously known by the hispanic teen population on TikTok. The two girls would go live together on TikTok along with a third girl Amanda, Important note the girls live in different states, Meche flew in from Texas to stay with Tessa in LA during the time they were together they had planned first Tessa’s quince and a trip to Arizona, then Meche would leave back to Texas .
While Meche was in LA she went and did a music video with other TikToker Fabio, after the music video was done being filmed Meche returned back home to Tessas. Tessa said she had gone to Amanda’s house to go to Six flags the day after for her birthday, Meche at the time was not sure if she should go to Disneyland or if she should go to Six flags with her friend.
In the end Meche decides she would go to Six fags with her friend, In Meches Youtube video she quotes the text messages between her and tessa and this is how they go
Tessa, ¨You can always come with us tomorrow to six flags if you want¨
Meche, ¨ Yea I don’t wanna go alone I want to be with ya’ll i’m here for ya’ll¨
Tessa, ¨It’s because I don’t want you to miss out on Disney Land because of me. I know you really wanna go¨
Meche, ¨Bro shut up today’s your birthday and you’re not here. What if I take an uber to…¨
Tessa, ¨I’ll see you soon.¨
Meche had read these messages out loud to clarify that she did in fact want to spend time with Tessa on her birthday as Tessa had told her viewers, ¨Meche missed my birthday.¨
During the first day of the Arizona trip Meche says she gets woken up at four in the morning by someone trying to cuddle with her. The person was her ex Angel, Meche said after kicking him out of her bed she could not go back to sleep so she went downstairs with the rest of the people who were still up. The first thing she sees is her ¨friend¨ Tessa on the couch with Angel cuddling.
The next day Meche said she felt ignored and felt tension between her and Tessa. The same day Meche was on live singing and someone came and knocked on the door of the room that she was in and told her ” hey this girl wants to fight you ̈ so the girl ends Meches live and socks her and that’s when they were separated. Meche finds out that Tessa went around telling people that Meche was “recording that girl and showing everyone how drunk she was.¨ So she decided to keep her distance from Tessa. Meche says she wanted to just get through the next few days and go back home.
The videos of Tessa and Angel came out and people immediately started bashing her and hating on her. Tessa calls Meche asking her to clear her name Meche posted a story saying something along the lines of please stop hate towards my friend tessa… Tessa told Meche that that story would fix nothing so Meche then deleted it. towards the end of her video Meche says she didn’t know about the videos like Tessa said she also talks about a situation with their friend Lucas where The Ortega family basically left Lucas without a ride in a big city he’s never been to. She also talks about her age and why she never clarified she was 16.
Now that we are all caught up I interviewed Mia Perez a sophomore on campus to see what she thinks about the situation and this is what she said ¨ I think Tessa is a fake friend because why is she trying to get with her best friend’s ex and why is she taking pictures of Meches passport the story she told doesn’t make sense. There’s a lot of harm that can be done to a person with that information.¨
I also then asked her what she thinks about how Tessa’s mom is talking badly about Meche, ¨ Tessa’s mom needs to grow up and stay out of little kids business and get her daughter in check.¨ Moving on from Tessa I asked what she thought about Meche claiming she was over the age of 18 and never clarifying she was 16. ¨ I think Meche lied about her age because she felt like it was the best thing to do and plus she got money.¨
Natalie Mendoza, a sophomore, was also interviewed on the topic. When she was asked what her thoughts on the situation were she replied ¨I think it’s childish and especially because Tessa just turned fifteen and although Meche lied about her age it is clear that she is more mature than Tessa. I also think it is unnecessary for Tessa’s mom to be getting in to it.¨
I then asked her what her opinion on the girls videos were and she replied ̈ “In my opinion Tessa’s video was pointless she kept changing her story around and stuttering as well as just repeating what people already knew not actually any new information. Meches video you could tell that Meche was more confident and it felt like she was saying the truth.¨ Natalie herself brought up how she thought it was unfair that the girls are getting all the blame for the situation and that people are sort of letting Angel off the hook. ¨I think it’s not fair how the girls are going through everything when it was basically his fault. The way I see it is him and Tessa started it.¨
I’m sure we can all relate to this story a bit however these are just the opinions of some people here on campus. It is up to you to form an opinion of your own and remember to always be respectful of others opinions as they are of our own opinions.
