Mr. Norris’s class performed their last Little Women show on Friday December 8th 2023. The cast and their teacher have been working on the play since late August.

The opening scene was Jo and her sisters practicing for the “ Christmas theatrical” put on by Jo every Christmas, next scene is where we meet the four sisters and begin to learn about what they are expecting Christmas to be like. Little Woman is a story that follows the March sisters Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy as they navigate the troubles of adulting.

The story takes place in the midst of the Civil War, Jo March can be considered the odd one out; she does not have any of the “traditional” dreams and aspirations for a woman during her time, instead she wants to be a writer and has spent her entire life working on a story about pirates and adventure. Jo quickly discovered that fulfilling her dream is harder said than done, when she meets Theadore “laurie” Lourence the grandson of a rich man who has bought him out of the war so that he can continue his studies he encourages and pushes her to finish her book so that she can take it to the publisher.

Amy quickly takes a liking to Laurie however Laurie had a different sister in mind, Jo. The two become friends instantly with Laurie making special appearances in the plays that Jo puts on. Little Women takes a dark twist when we discover on Christmas that the girl’s father is gravely ill and that all of their savings have to go to the hospital bills. This is devastating especially to Jo as those were the savings for her trip to Euroupe. Even with all the devastation a second opportunity arises for her to travel around Europe, that opportunity was quickly taken away by her sister. Finally, Jo decides she will write and publish her book to get to Europe however, when she sets off to the publisher she is told that there is too much emotion in the story.
