Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Lear

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Lear

In my opinion, Mrs. Lear is a great teacher. I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say she really is a good teacher. She is good at teaching and speaking correctly and she’s very fun. Her class feels very calming and safe, it’s very dim there but she plays music when you work and it feels very nice and homey. She’s been teaching here at Pitman High for a while. Mrs. Lear has been teaching for around 21 years.

She first thought of being a teacher when 9/11 had occurred. She was a banker,  and a diligent one at that, when she witnessed the terrorist attack, the incident concerning the world trade center in New York, on the news it frightened her. She decided to call her boss and say that she wanted to quit because she wanted to teach. 9/11 taught her that life is too short and to do what you want. And that is what she did, after she had told her boss h about quitting to teach he wanted to talk to her so he took her out to try to convince her to stay. She told him how she really wanted to teach and why she decided to actually go for it now. He wasn’t listening much and he was being a bit rude to her which made her want to quit more.

She ended up deciding to quit and thus led her here to Pitman High and it was one of the best decisions she has made. She has now been teaching for around 21 years and she is an amazing teacher. She’s very fair and treats everyone equally.

I asked her what her favorite memory of our class from this year or last was. “My favorite part of last year with you and your class was probably your class in general. You guys were amazing and I loved to see you all grow” said Mrs. Lear

She’s one of if not my favorite teachers here at Pitman High, she really made me feel calm and welcomed to be here as a freshman and even as a Sophomore right now I still feel the same as freshman year. I am a bit more collected and confident because of her.
