Education Should Be Free

Education Should Be Free

The debate whether College should or shouldn’t be free has been in question for such a long time. There are obviously two sides to this debate, and each have their pros and cons. If you think about it long and hard, you’ll find yourself thinking that a whole bunch of brilliant and amazing students don’t go to college for the reason they cannot afford it at all, so we’re putting our future doctors, teachers, lawyers etc. at risk. But also think to yourself where would the money come from if college was to be free? It’s most likely that taxes will increase, and people will get paid much less.

College should be free, no questions asked.

Why should college be free?

College should be free for a lot of reasons, one being once students graduate and “start” their life they will be in a lot of debt. The average amount of debt for an average college student is $37,338. When a college student is trying to buy a home, apartment or car how will they without getting in more debt. We want our students to be financially stable and successful. Plus, the amount of stress, they have to put their life on pause to pay off that debt. Is that really what we want for our future generations?

Why isn’t college free?

With college not being free, students are far more disciplined. If college was free, school would not be taken seriously and waste professors, students and parents time, for example If it was free, we would have students skipping which will lead them to miss out on lectures/lessons. Another reason why it shouldn’t be free is because they work for what they are paying for.

What is your opinion on this debate?

Dailynn Greener– It should be free because some people can’t afford it.

Yosgart Toledo– My opinion on this debate is that college should be free. There are many low-class students who have the desire to go to a type of college but do not have the proper financial resources to support themselves. If there were a time where college was free, I believe many people would have taken the opportunity and continued if not started their journey in finding their desired career which in most times has a higher pay and expands your knowledge to expand your view in different circumstances. Having this recourse of free college cannot just expand our knowledge and financial stability but can also help to boost the economy while expanding our skills to higher production and quality of our future careers and lifestyles.
