8 year old Gypsy Rose Blanchard was diagnosed with leukemia and muscular dystrophy and needed a wheelchair and feeding tubes. Or so people were told. Clauddine De De Blanchard, Gypsy’s mother had Munchausen by Proxy; a psychological condition that causes a caregiver to engage in attention seeking behaviors by making the person or people under their care ill. 

De De told people around her that Gypsy’s medical records were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina after moving to Springfield, Missouri. She told people and doctors that Gypsy had Leukemia, Muscular Dystrophy, vision and hearing impairment, seizures, asthma and that she had sleep apnea when she was a baby. 

The Abuse: De De would force her to use a wheelchair, use painful feeding tubes, unnecessary medical procedures, physically restrained her to the bed with chains, hit her, denied her food. 

De De lied about tooth decay which resulted to Gypsy teeth being removed.

This abuse lasted until Gypsy was 23 years old. 

The 1st time Gypsy tried to escape was when she was 15 [19], in February 2011, where she met up with a 35 year old man at a convention and spoke with him online. After they went to his hotel room where she was found by De De. She was punished by smashing her phone and computer, chaining her to the bed with bells on the doors to keep her from leaving. 

In October 2012, Gypsy was on a Christian dating site where she spoke to Nicholas Godejohn. Their two year relationship was maintained through video calls and messages. In October 2014, Gypsy’s neighbor and facebook friend, Aleah Woodmanse, talked about Godejohn and Gypsy relationship and how they were going to run away and that they had been intimate, which concerned Woodmanse due to her belief that Gypsy was a minor.

In March 2015 the couple agreed to meet at a movie theater to see Disney’s “Cinderella” movie. The couple were able to sneak away to the bathroom and intercourse. The meeting didn’t end up going well because De De did not like Godejohn. 

Gypsy stated the punishment after the meeting led to her and Godejohn to begin to plot how to get away. 

June 19th 2015 , Godejohn checked into a motel in Missouri waiting for Gypsy’s que to come to her home. Once he got the que, Gypsy gave him a knife, gloves and duct tape. Godejohn stabbed sleeping De De 17 times, killing her, while Gypsy hid in the bathroom covering her ears. After the crime, they had intercourse (supposedly non-consensual) then left for Godejohn home in Big Bend Wisconsin. Mailing the murder weapon from Springfield to Wisconsin. 

After a few days 48 year old De De’s body remained undiscovered in her home, Gypsy and Godejohn posted twice to De De’s Facebook page to draw attention; one red “That b***h is dead!” and “I f-ing SLASHED THAT FAT PIG AND R***D HER INNOCENT DAUGHTER … HER SCREAM WAS SOOO F-ING LOUD LOL.” Friends and family noticed and immediately alerted police. 

Authorities discovered De De’s boy and Gypsy’s abandoned wheelchair which led to the speculation she had been injured or kidnapped. Woodmanse told police about Gypsy and Godejohn’s relationship leading to police finding his IP through his social media. 

Once they were found they were both arrested and Gypsy initially denied involvement but later confessed after Godejohn told police they planned the murder together. The then-coupled bond was set at $1,000,000,000. 

Gypsy was convicted of 2nd degree murder with the possibility of parole and Godejohn was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. 

Gypsy served 8-10 years and was recently released on parole on December 28th, 2023. After she was released she was already well known due to her story and interviews in prison, Now that she is out she is a media star with thousands almost millions of followers on TikTok and Instagram. She is also going to many events, on podcasts, doing multiple interviews. She’s getting brand deals with her fans praising her. 

For the first two weeks after she was released she was the talk of the town with LOTS of people giving her their support with some hating on her and her husband which led to her Iconic Instagram comment; “Ryan don’t listen to the haters. I love you, and you love me. We do not owe anyone anything. Our family is who matters. If you get likes and good comments great, if you get hate then whatever because THEY DON”T MATTER. I love you[ heart emoji]  Besides, they are just jealous because you are rocking my world every night… yeah I said it, the D is fire [fire emoji], happy wife happy life [heart emoji].” 

Now after weeks of support and people having fun with her Iconic comment she is now getting “canceled” for being a “Master Manipulator”. Also because in one podcast interview she said that she doesn’t know why people were mad at her for the murder of her mother if she wasn’t the one who actually did the killing. Some are just mad because of all the media attention she is getting even though she went to prison for the murder of her mother.
