2023-2024 End of Year Recap

2023-2024+End+of+Year+Recap

The 2023-2024 school year is coming to a close end and there were many memories made with many events that took place. There is always a variety of rallies, sporting events, dances and more. Here are different perspectives from one student from each grade on how their 2023-2024 school year was.

Freshman year can be a highly stressful time for some people or be the most exciting year of high school. Here is some insight into Dante Janken’s freshman year:

What was your favorite part of the school year? “My personal preference was football. I loved my first year of football. It was brand new to me. I had never played before and I loved the coaches.”

What Pitman event has been your favorite? “The Chicago play was definitely my favorite event that I went to.”

How was High school different from Junior High for you? “The people are definitely different. There are a lot more people than I am used to because I went to a really small middle school.”

What’s your goal for next year? “I wanna do more clubs and be more involved with drama.”

Sophomore year can be a very exciting year, you already know what to expect for the most part because it is now your second year of high school. You are also more likely to get more involved with your school and that is something Jianna Piro did. Here is sophomore year from Jianna’s point of view:

What was your favorite part of Sophomore year? “My favorite part was probably the homecoming float because there were a lot of people helping, more people got involved and I was really happy how it turned out.”

What was your favorite part of ASB and why? “Being able to talk to different teachers and students was nice as well as being able to take inspiration from the other schools and bring more ideas to Pitman.”

Favorite Pitman event and why? “My favorite Pitman event was the talent rally because I think we got a bigger perspective like turning the lights off and getting more people involved that we don’t usually see.”

Personal sports recap? “My favorite memory from cheer was when we Harvest Bowl varsity had time with the varsity girls because having all the girls made the dance look really good. My favorite part of swimming was that I’ve never done it and I got to experience new teammates and do something different than cheer.

Junior year is known to be the hardest year of high school, however if one person could make junior year an amazing experience it would be Grant Day. To add to the wonderful perspectives of the other students here is Grant’s on junior year.

What was your favorite part of Junior year? “My favorite part of junior year was the homecoming float building and the homecoming rally.”

Best Junior year memory? “I think my best memory this year was when we won the playoff game for volleyball because it was our first time winning a playoff game.”

Favorite Pitman event? “Besides the homecoming rally I really liked the talent rally. It was cool turning off the lights and having teachers being involved.”

Favorite part about being in the green team? “My favorite part about being in the green team was planning all the student events and being involved with putting events together and bringing school spirit up as well as dressing up for dress up weeks.”

Personal sports recap? “My favorite part of football was senior night. It was really emotional saying goodbye to all the seniors and my favorite part of volleyball was just being really tight with the team. We all got along really well like brothers.”

Senior year is known to be a bittersweet experience for most people. There are plenty of last events like your last school dance and your last first day of school. Here are some thoughts on senior year from Abigail Diaz.

How was senior year different from other years of high school? “Senior year was my favorite year! I gained so much experience from previous years, that by my senior year I felt prepared and ready. It’s also just a bittersweet feeling knowing that it’s my last year but it made this year’s experiences so much better and more meaningful.”

What was your favorite pitman event this year? “My favorite event this year was homecoming! I loved the float building and dress up days that led up to the football game!

How was the senior year prom experience? Senior prom was so much fun!! I think ASB picked a perfect DJ and theme. I also won prom queen so it made the whole experience more memorable.

Were you a part of ASB or green team if so what was the 23-24 year like?

“Yes! I was an ASB officer my sophomore and junior year and I was a green team officer this year. Throughout my years being a part of ASB, I believe this year felt the most normal and most enjoyable. This year I think we brought back the spirit that we lost during COVID.”

Personal sports recap? “I did cheer for three years but quit my senior year to join Pitman Aquatics. Cheer is something that will forever be a part of me. I loved the friends I made and it was overall a great experience. But Pitman aquatics welcomed me with open arms. I did swimming for 2 years and waterpolo for one year. Swimming is definitely a sport I wish I did my freshman and sophomore year.”

Though all four years come to an end, no matter what year you’re in, you should always strive to make the most out of your high school experience. As a student, try to be more involved in school activities because based on these interviews, they made a huge part of their years.
